Chapter 1279 Learning to Cooperate
Chapter 1279 Learning to Cooperate
'…To think it would be this easy.'
Glancing at Valyr from time to time as they continued to move through the corridors, Darklight could not stop himself from inwardly grinning, feeling as if the heavens were listening to his every thought.
'I'm so gonna get rich by the end of this,' thought the man to himself, already imagining himself selling off Valyr's entire armor set for a massive profit.
'At first, I thought of joining SeventhShield's party since they looked like they had a lot of money, especially with the equipment they're using.'
'With my current class at a far higher rarity than theirs, it'll be mere child's play to have the boss push them to the brink of defeat and use that as an opportunity to extort as much money out of them as possible.' Darklight continued to grin at these words.
Although he mentioned when he introduced himself to Valyr that his class was that of a Light Archer, that class was merely a facade he used to keep his actual class hidden from the others.
In reality, his current class was that of a Dark Bow Lord, a class whose mechanics felt similar to that of a Light Archer, but reached a level of complexity and mastery that even ten Light Archers working together could not match.
Aside from that, the Dark Bow Lord class was a Legendary class, a level of rarity that had already been accepted by the majority of players so far to be the pinnacle level of strength possible for them to achieve.
Considering the fact that the Light Archer was only an Uncommon class following the ranger path, and the fact that a Legendary class gave far more stats than an Uncommon class could ever give…
Darklight's confidence in having SeventhShield and his friends follow his every whim was not unfounded.
'With Ataraxia now being a part of the party, my plan to extort everyone at the end has only become better than ever,' thought the man to himself as he inwardly cackled.
'After all, not only would I earn lots of money from extorting SeventhShield and the others, I'd also make a killing from selling off Ataraxia's armor set in the black market! That's hitting two birds with one stone right there!'
'…Calm down, me.' Just as he was about to let out his imaginations grow rampant, Darklight forcefully retained his rationality by taking in a deep breath, only to glance at the others in the party once more.
Though, once he saw that Valyr was easily keeping up with the party's speed, even though it was a speed only possible if one were at least in the middle of Rank 1, that composure immediately disappeared as another thought suddenly popped up in his mind.
'Jackpot! Fucking jackpot!'
'I won't just grow rich from him… I'll also become even far stronger than ever before!'
'Oh, Ataraxia! Thank you for giving me all your stuff in advance!'
…
Whoosh!
After moving through the corridor they were in for a few minutes, Valyr and the others eventually arrived at the first intersection.
Seeing that there were three paths they could take, Zack stepped forward and guided them along the path that was the safest.
Of course, even though it was the safest path they could take, the path they took was not fully without danger.
After all, they were tackling the dungeon at Insane difficulty.
Grrieeeeggh!!!
Graaahhh!!!
Just as the group was nearing what looked to be the second intersection in their run, a trio of hobgoblins appeared in front of them, gazing at them as if they were mere prey to the crude weapons they wielded.
"[Taunt]!" Being both the leader and the tank of the party, it went without saying that SeventhShield already charged towards the hobgoblins, attracting all of their attention towards him with a skill.
Swoosh!
With the hobgoblins' aggro focused on SeventhShield, Zack went ahead and made his move, sneaking up behind one of the hobgoblins before landing a lethal strike at the back of its throat.
"May the flames listen to my will." At the same time, Uzume moved to the right, aiming her spell towards the right hobgoblin as she began her incantation.
"[Fire Bolt]!"
Bang!
With SeventhShield continuing to keep the aggro of the three hobgoblins on him, it did not take long for Zack and Uzume to kill the two hobgoblins they were targeting, allowing them to kill off the last hobgoblin with great ease.
"May the light cure your wounds."
"[Light Healing]."
Seeing that the trio had finally removed the obstacle in front of them, Lycana faintly let out a sigh of relief before moving towards SeventhShield, fulfilling her duty as the party's healer as she activated a skill.
Swish!
Thankfully, with the masterful coordination between the three, SeventhShield did not take that much damage from the hobgoblins, allowing Lycana to finish her job within a matter of seconds.
"Let's move on," said SeventhShield after that, thanking Lycana for the heal before shifting his gaze towards Darklight.
"From now on, I'd appreciate it if you could help us out in fighting the hobgoblins," he continued, his expression stern.
"As for you, Ataraxia." Glancing at Valyr, his gaze slightly softened. "Although I know this dungeon is way beyond your level, I'd also appreciate it if you could help out in your fights."
"We'll try our best," said the two in response, easily understanding that they'd be kicked out of the party if they didn't try to help the four of them during fights.
And thus, by the time they came across their second set of enemies, the speed at which the party killed the monsters grew to an unprecedented rate.
"Hup!" With an arrow nocked against the bowstring, Darklight went ahead and sent a small barrage of arrows towards the group of hobgoblins they were fighting, aiding both Zack and SeventhShield fighting at the front.
"Haah!" On the other hand, Valyr coordinated with Uzume to send a few magic attacks towards the hobgoblins here and there, forgoing both his magic staff and his incantations as he cast a spell.
"[Mana Bolt]!"
Bang!
With both Darklight and Valyr now attacking their enemies alongside them, the group gradually grew more and more coordinated the longer they were in the dungeon.
In fact, by the time they'd fought against their tenth group of enemies in a row, both Darklight and Valyr moved in a manner that made them seem like they were already part of the group in the first place.
Working alongside both Zack and Uzume in a highly offensive formation, the four swiftly killed all of the hobgoblins and the goblin mages that barred their path, allowing Lycana to know that she could rest easy.
"Up next would be the mini-boss." Resting for a bit after fighting those hobgoblins, Zack caught everyone's attention as he spoke in a serious tone. "There's no way for us to avoid it, since all paths we take in the next intersection would lead us to it."
Seeing that everyone was listening to his words, Zack faintly nodded as he continued, "I know I've already mentioned it before, but although this mini-boss is at the same level as the hobgoblins and goblin mages we've fought so far, it's at the Uncommon Elite tier."
"Aside from that, I did a bit more scouting in the middle of our fights, and I found out that it could imbue magic into the weapon it's holding, so we should practice greater caution."
"Can it cast spells like the goblin mages?" asked Uzume after hearing those words.
"It's safe to assume that it could," said SeventhShield with a faint sigh. "After all, there's virtually no difference from that to imbuing magic into its weapon."
"We'll be using a more defensive formation for this one," he continued, glancing at everyone in the process. "I'll be acting as the main tank, while Zack will take on the role of secondary tank."
"Lycana and Uzume will act as defensive support, with Lycana on buffs and Uzume on barriers and shields."
"With that being said, Darklight, Ataraxia, I'll be relying on the two of you to deal most of the damage," said SeventhShield, only to shift his attention towards Darklight.
"Especially you, Darklight."
"As a ranger, I'm sure you'll be able to hit the mini-boss in its most vital spots, allowing the fight to be cleared a bit faster than it should be. Lycana will also cast combat buffs on you to boost your offense."
"Got it." Darklight nodded, his expression making it hard for others to know what's on his mind.
Seeing that the man had no complaints over his role in the fight, SeventhShield then shifted his focus towards Valyr. "As for you, Ataraxia, once again, I'm not asking much from you."
"In fact, I'm glad that you're pulling your weight, even though you're an entire class rank lower than us."
"But since we're up against the mini-boss… if you've been saving some spells from us, now's the right time to make use of them."
"Don't worry. I won't hold back when it's necessary," replied Valyr in return, allowing SeventhShield's expression to be more at ease.
"Alright. Since all of us understand what we need to do in this fight…" n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
"Shall we take a stab at this mini-boss, then?"
What do you think?
